Typical Cooling rate calculation
Modeling programs as shown above are utilized when designing the quench to determine the time to get through the critical temperature. The speed of the pipe along with the time of cooling will determine the length of the critical cooling in the quench. If the steam barrier is not broken during the inital quench then the cooling curve is not accurate.
