The majority of quenches utilized are flood quenches. These quench form pockets of steam that dissipate through normal cooling. These can be tank type quenches and spray quenches that are not designed to strip the boundary layer.
The ESG spray quench is designed with the highest pressure and correct volume to efficiently strip the steam layer and rapidly start a uniform cooling.
